1950 graduate of Caribou High School, Richard “Dick” Bouchard stood at six-feet-three inches but was much taller than even that in person, especially when he covered the basketball court. Bouchard played varsity hoops all four of his high school years and was known as a very proficient free-throw shooter. An All Aroostook and All County basketball player, Bouchard was also a star baseball player.

It has been told by Richard Dick Bouchard’s family that the young basketball star worked an entire summer at the age of 14 or 15 so he could purchase this pair of Converse All Star leather high-top athletic shoes (Chuck Taylor model) — at a cost of $7. Bouchard, who graduated from CHS in 1950 played varsity basketball all four years of high school.
