Elm Tree Diner – Old-fashioned home cooking

HOULTON — Times they are a changing, but one thing is clear —  “There’s no place finer than the Elm Tree Diner.” For over 60 years, the Bangor Street eatery has served residents from both sides of the border.
The Elm Tree Diner, located at 146 Bangor Street, has a statewide (and across the border as well) reputation as “the” place to eat in Houlton, Maine. Customers can always expect high quality food.
In fact, manager Nancy Manton and her capable staff promise a menu that offers the highest quality food and a pledge to achieve complete customer satisfaction.
“It’s paramount to provide exceptional customer service at our restaurant. We do that by creating a friendly atmosphere, a standard of cleanliness that is above reproach and by conducting good business practices,” said Manton.
Elm Tree’s menu offers a variety of choices for everyone’s taste. The lunch menu offers a variety of burgers and sandwiches to choose from, inclusive of fresh haddock burgers and lobster rolls. The dinner menu offers a variety of choices of beef, poultry, pork, pasta and seafood dishes. And let’s not forget our appetizers which include hot wings, poutine, mozzarella sticks, poppers and deep fried mushrooms and cauliflower.
Elm Tree’s kitchen crew proudly bakes their own breads and rolls, including white, oatmeal and oatmeal raisin — great alone or with any meal.
As you might expect, dessert is a very popular part of any Elm Tree meal. Choose from homemade pies, cakes, brownies, whoopee pies or cookies. In the morning, homemade muffins or thick homemade toast hits the spot.
Summer hours for the Elm Tree Diner: Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. till 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m.
