Registration continues at Presque Isle pool
The fall swimming session is under way at the Presque Isle Indoor Pool, but some classes still have openings. Contact the indoor pool at 764-2564 to inquire. Fall general swim hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 1-2:45 p.m. and Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 7-8:45 p.m. A special general swim session will be offered Friday, Aug. 21 from 1-2:45 p.m.
Lap swim hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:15-8 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 6:15-8 a.m.; Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-6 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from noon-1 p.m.
Adult swim hours are Monday through Friday from 8-9 a.m.
Presque Isle teams sweep tournament
The Presque Isle girls and boys varsity soccer teams came away with victories in the finals of the 17th annual PIHS Invitational Soccer Tournament, held Thursday and Saturday.
Presque Isle upended Caribou in the girls final, 1-0, while the Wildcat boys were victorious over Madawaska, 1-0.
Also taking part in the tourney were Ashland, Van Buren, Fort Kent and Houlton.
Third annual CCA golf tourney set Aug. 29
Cornerstone Christian Academy will host its third annual CCA Golf Classic Saturday, Aug. 29 at Caribou Country Club.
The event is a three-person scramble with a minimum team handicap of 30. The tourney will get under way with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The fee to register is $120.

All proceeds will benefit Cornerstone Christian Academy programs.
KeyBank golf scramble slated Aug. 29 at PICC
The third annual KeyBank Charity Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, Aug. 29 at Presque Isle Country Club.
The proceeds will benefit several area charitable organizations and projects.
Prizes include cash for the winning men’s and women’s teams in both gross and net, a Garmin GPS unit, NASCAR memorabilia, logo merchandise and several other prizes for closest to pin, longest drives and a putting contest.
A barbecue lunch will be provided to all golfers.
The shotgun start is at 10 a.m., with golfer registration at 9 a.m. The minimum three-person team handicap is 30, and the team registration fee is $120. To register, call Steve St. Pierre at 764-9423.
Girls youth hockey supper/auction planned
A baked bean and ham supper and auction will be held at the Mapleton Lions Hall Sept. 19 beginning at 5 p.m.
Tickets are $6 and proceeds will benefit the Presque Isle High School girls varsity ice hockey team. Tickets can be picked up at Goin’ Postal, NAPA or at the door. To make straight donations, send checks to Presque Isle Girls Youth Hockey Team, 34 Dudley St., Presque Isle, ME 04769.

Presque Isle Varsity Club presents concert Aug. 28
The Presque Isle High School Varsity Club is pleased to present the Boston-based rock and blues band Ernie and the Automatics on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. in the PIHS Auditorium.
The band features guitarist Barry Goudreau and drummer Sib Hashian, both former original members of the multi-platinum selling band Boston.
This will be the band’s first trip to northern Maine. Local singer-songwriter Brian Mosher will open the show. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and are available at Bradley’s Citgo, the Presque Isle Chamber of Commerce, Presque Isle High School, and from members of the SAD 1 Music Boosters.
