AMHC completes acquisition of WCPA; offers new services, changes name

    Representatives from AMHC have announced that as of July 1, it had completed its acquisition of WCPA programming and assets, expanding its behavioral health service operations into Washington and Hancock counties.        Services will be delivered under the name of “Atlantic Mental Health Center,” but will be referred to as AMHC. The completed acquisition strengthens the ongoing programmatic and financial viability of behavioral and related physical health care services in Aroostook, Washington and Hancock counties to maintain and improve the quality of and access to needed health care services within the community.  
    In addition to AMHC’s existing continuum of services in Aroostook County, AMHC will continue to offer the services that have been offered by WCPA.
    These services include: emergency 24/7/365 telephone and mobile response throughout the Washington and Hancock Counties by calling the HELPLine at 1-888-568-1112 (formerly called PhoneHelp); Outpatient, elder care and home and community treatment services in Calais, Machias and Ellsworth. referrals, appointments and information about services can be made by calling the Calais, Machias and Ellsworth offices.
    The Calais Children’s Project offers residential treatment services for children age 7-18. Treatment services include crisis assessment and stabilization, residential mental health treatment for children with psychological, emotional and behavioral problems and specialized treatment for children with sexual behaviors or who are affected by sexual abuse.
