FORT FAIRFIELD – Kipp B. Foster, 67, husband of the late Judy A. Foster, passed away Friday morning, June 12, 2009, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, after a brief illness. He was born March 22, 1942 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Walter and Florence (Kipp) Foster. He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and was employed in the banking industry for many years, starting his career at Commercial Credit, Presque Isle, was Vice President of People’s Heritage Bank, Fort Fairfield, and also worked in various capacities at Key Bank and Katahdin Trust Company of Fort Fairfield. He was married to Judy A. Shaw on August 11, 1962 and was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fairfield, the Fort Fairfield Rotary Club, the former Community General Hospital Guild, and the Riverside Cemetery Board of Directors, Fort Fairfield, where he served as Chairman for several years. Kipp was also an avid woodworker and took great pride in his home and property.
In addition to his parents, Kipp was predeceased by his wife, Judy on March 12, 2008; one sister Carolyn Knowles; one sister-in-law, Christine Merrithew; one brother-in-law, Richard C. Shaw. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Jeff Lavway of Mapleton, Heidi and Doug Churchill of Fort Fairfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Brenda Foster of Bristol, TN, Walter and Lynn Foster of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Joshua and Savannah Churchill, both of Fort Fairfield; his mother-in-law, Mary M. Shaw of Fort Fairfield; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Adams and her husband Floyd of Limestone, Mary Giberson and her husband Alfred of Presque Isle, Alice McCarthy, Joyce Milbury and her husband George, all of Bristol, Connecticut; one brother-in-law, Robert Shaw and his wife Jill of Caribou; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Kipp’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Memorial service was conducted Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 166 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Dr. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will be held after the service at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle St., Fort Fairfield, after the interment. In lieu of flowers those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Foster to the local charity or organization of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
