CARIBOU – Clifford Holman, 75, passed away Monday, June 8, 2009 at a local health-care facility. He was born April 21, 1934 in Paterson, NJ, the son of John and Henrietta (Boonstra) Holman. Clifford served 20 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a chief petty officer in 1971. He was a member of the American Legion and was a past commander and adjutant. One of the pleasures in life for Clifford was coaching and umpiring little league baseball in Old Orchard Beach.
Clifford is survived by two sons: Boyce Holman and his wife Lori of Caribou and Clifford Holman Jr. and his wife Glenda of Sanford, five grandchildren: Daniel, Rachelle, Todd, Justin, and Brandon. Clifford also leaves behind five siblings: John N. Holman, Elizabeth Wychoff, George Holman, Alberta Beatty, Lois Richard, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife of forty-five years, Barbara (Jordan) Holman.
A memorial service was conducted 9 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2009 at the New Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta on Mount Vernon Rd. Arrangements in care of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. Friends may express their condolences to the family at www.lancastermorgan.com.
