Image    We are deeply mourning the loss of our loving and precious mother, Alain Lorinthia (Knowlton) Kennedy. She died on Saturday, June 6, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer. Because of the professional and caring support of the Hospice team at North Memorial Hospital, she was able to remain at her daughter's home in New Brighton, MN until her passing.
She was born in Caribou, November 24, 1920, the fourth child of Austin and Nettie (True) Knowlton. She had three brothers and five sisters. She was an active member in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and received great comfort and support from her brothers and sisters there. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Everyone loved her baked beans, biscuits, doughnuts and apple pie.  She loved to knit and crochet from the time she was a young girl and always had several projects in the works. She was predeceased by her first husband of 34 years, Norman Kennedy Jr. They had four daughters, Jerry and Don Myers, Minnesota, Ruth and Russell Harvey, Maine, Rose and Scott Redder, Wyoming, and Jackie Kennedy, Maine.  She was also predeceased by her second husband of 20 years, Darrell Kennedy, Sr. She was step-mother to his 8 children, Barbara Donahue, Indiana, Billy Kennedy, Maine, Darrell Kennedy Jr., Georgia,  Lesley Kennedy, deceased, Teresa Hodges, Florida, Cheri Newman, Florida, Sandra Sellers, Indiana and Benjamin Kennedy, Florida. She is survived by her two sisters, Thelma Knowlton, Maine and Janet Rossignol, Maine. Also six sister-in-laws,  Arleen Knowlton, Michigan, Rita Richardson, Texas, Juanita Knowlton, Maine, Marjorie Kahkonen, Maine, Theola Raasumaa, Maine, and Anna Parker, New Hampshire.    She will be greatly missed by her nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Arnold and Emery Knowlton and three sisters, Dorothy Kinney, Irene Lunney and Gretchen Knowlton. Alain will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed with knowing her.
