Watershed tour, dinner meeting planned

Residents of Castle Hill and Chapman are invited to attend a guided field tour and evening dinner meeting for Dudley Brook Tuesday, June 16.       The goal of this event is to bring together local landowners, town officials, and resource professionals to discuss the causes of impairment, and solutions for restoring Dudley Brook.
The guided field tour will take place from 3-5 p.m. beginning at the town office and will include a hands-on demonstration of stream sampling techniques, a discussion about managing impoundments for irrigation, and examples of erosion of local roads, agricultural land, and stream banks, as well as techniques for prevention.
An indoor planning meeting will follow at the town office from 5-7 p.m., and will include a discussion of the field tour, an update on the first draft of the Dudley Brook watershed management plan, and reports on forestry activities, municipal findings, and future opportunities in the watershed. Input from area residents is greatly encouraged to guide future planning activities.
If interested, please contact Jennifer Jespersen at (207) 215-8506 or by e-mail at jenj@fbenvironmental.com and indicate whether you will be attending the field tour, dinner meeting, or both. Field tour participants should be prepared for inclement weather. A draft of the Dudley Brook Watershed-Based Management Plan is online at: www.fbenvironmental.com/news.html.
