The Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Katrina Whittier and Ben Picard for being selected as athletes of the week for the week of May 26-30.
Whittier set a new school record for the 300 meter hurdles. To date, Whittier has qualified for the state track and field meet in the following events: shot put, 300 meter hurdles and the triple jump.
Picard defeated Fort Kent’s No. 2 player 8-0 to help the boys varsity tennis team finish the regular season in first place in Eastern Maine Class B.
Presque Isle Youth Hockey is looking for adults interested in coaching or helping out with its six levels of youth hockey teams. Boys and girls, ages 4-16, participate in a season that runs from October through March.

The girls and boys varsity basketball staffs are offering their 18th annual basketball clinic to any interested MSAD #1 student. All girls and boys entering grades 3-8 for the 2009-2010 school year are welcome. No prior basketball experience is necessary.
The clinic will be run by boys varsity coach Tim Prescott and girls varsity coach Jeff Hudson. The staff will include coaches from Presque Isle High School along with members of the Wildcat varsity girls and boys basketball teams.
This camp will be offered for one week, June 15-19. Also, to afford each age group more playing time, the camp will be divided into two sessions. Grades 3, 4 and 5 will play in Session 1 from 5-7 p.m. and grades 6, 7 and 8 will occupy Session 2 from 7-9 p.m.
Fundamentals of all phases of basketball will be stressed along with emphasis no sportsmanship and having fun while learning to play. Join us for lots of fun as Presque Isle High School and get a jump on your career as a Wildcat!
Registration forms are due on June 15 and the cost is $40 per student. For multiple students in one household, the cost is $70 for two or $90 for three. Make checks payable to SAD #1.
Registration will begin 45 minutes prior to each session and students may not participate without a signed permission form, which also serves as proof of medical insurance.

The festival takes place on June 13 from 5 a.m. – 3 p.m. rain or shine, and combines bird walks, bird banding, and bird calling demonstrations, live bird displays, and friendly people who will create a wonderful outdoor experience at Maine’s First State Park.
The wooded hiking trails and lake shoreline offer attractive bird habitat, where over 100 different bird species have been seen.
