Jenkins makes dean’s list

    Elmira College has released its dean’s list for academic achievement for the winter 2009 term.  The dean’s list recognizes students that have a grade point average of 3.6 or higher for the winter 2009 academic term.
    Christopher Jenkins, class of 2010, of Fort Fairfield, a major in English literature and history, has been named to the dean’s list of academic achievement for the winter 2009 term. Christopher is the son of Mark and Robin Jenkins.

    Swanson earns degree

    SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Bryant University held its Graduate School Commencement on Thursday, May 14. Among the graduates was local resident, Adam Swanson, of Chapman, who received an master of business administration.

    Flaherty honored

    PRESQUE ISLE — Cornerstone Christian Academy is pleased to announce that Camryn Flaherty has been selected as Student of the Month for April. 
    Camryn is a 4th-grade student taught by Mrs. Vicky Gehring. She is an honor student who gives a very consistent effort in all areas of school life.
    She has a wonderful attitude toward others, being very helpful and kind. In addition to school, Camryn enjoys such activities as rollerblading and spending time with friends and family.
    Camryn attends the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church and lives in Presque Isle with proud parents Rick and Kellie, and sister Mikaela. Congratulations, Camryn!

Former Presque Isle resident graduates from medical school

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) awarded certificates and degrees May 16 to 811 graduates of its five colleges and graduate school during its commencement ceremony at Barton Coliseum.
    Among those to graduate from UAMS College of Medicine was Ida Mehdizadegan, a former resident of Presque Isle, who is the daughter of Feridoon and Farzi Mehdizadegan.

    Deschene earns degree

    Natasha Lauritsen Deschene graduated May 16 from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Deschene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Deschene of Presque Isle, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering with distinction.

Harris earns degree

    FORT WORTH, Texas — Monica Anne Harris, of Fort Fairfield, successfully completed degree requirements at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth. Harris majored in fashion merchandising and received a bachelor of science degree. More than 1,300 graduates were honored May 9 at commencement exercises in Daniel Meyer Coliseum on the TCU campus.
