Caribou – Michael David Doody 62, died June 7, 2009 at Caribou following a long illness. He was born in Caribou September 19, 1946 the son of the late Ivory and Lela (Langley) Doody. Mike attended Woodland school and was a 1964 graduate of Caribou High School. He served with the US Army during the Korean War and was a life member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW. Mike was a self employed carpenter and was always available to help someone who had a need. He dearly loved the times when he could be one with nature, whether it was just riding through the forest or sitting in a fishing boat. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his acceptance of others, his extremely hard work ethic and his love of family and friends.
Michael is survived by a daughter Michelle York of Caribou and her children Keith Dickinson and Alan Dickinson Jr., and Alisha McClane and her husband Mikel, and great granddaughter Savanah. His son Justin Doody of Caribou and his children, Branden, Julie and Hayden. Four brothers; Dana Doody and his wife Ina, Wendell Doody and Frank Doody all of Woodland and Evie Doody and his wife Marie of Bristol, Ct. One sister Linda McCrossin and her husband Paul of Presque Isle. A sister-in-law Viola “Frenchie” Doody of Woodland,. Many nieces and nephews and countless friends including Sandy, Jessie, CB and Murphy. Mike was predeceased by his wife Connie (Bennett) Doody, two brothers, Malen and Ronald, two sisters-in-law Gloria and Jane, a niece Beth and a grandniece Nicole.
A memorial service will be held 12 noon Monday June 15, 2009 at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Roger Jewell, officiating. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mike may do so through the Maine Veterans Home Memorial Fund or the American Lung Association.
