  Image  CASWELL – F. Virginia “Ginny” Barnes, 75, wife of Garald F. Barnes, passed away peacefully, Friday evening, June 5, 2009, at a Caribou healthcare facility, after an extended illness. She was born January 12, 1934 in Pembroke, the daughter of the late Raymond and L. Virginia (Preston) Gove and was raised by her late grandparents Asa and Emma Preston (Wilkens). She attended Franklin Schools and graduated from High School in Morristown, New Jersey and was married to Garald F. Barnes on November 26, 1991. Family was most important to Ginny and she enjoyed numerous family celebrations and gatherings throughout the years. Ginny also enjoyed cooking and baking, singing in the choir as a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church and with the Caswell Home Extension. She especially loved caring for her dog Peanut and cat, Baby. Ginny will be remembered as a popular waitress at local restaurants in Calais and at Kelley’s Restaurant in Limestone and as a tender yet strong willed person.
    Ginny is survived by her husband of seventeen years, Garald F. Barnes of Caswell; two sons, Edward Farrell and his wife Vicki of Calais, John Farrell and his wife Lois of Princeton; one daughter, Linda Farrell and her fiancé Omer Cropley Jr. of Brookton; one stepson Brian Barnes of Homestead, Florida; two stepdaughters, Beth Tilmont and her husband Scott of Limestone, Susan Barnes of Hooksett, New Hampshire; three sisters, Ramona Winters and her husband Irvin of Topsfield, Patti Quintivella and her husband Nicholas of Dover, New Jersey; Barbara Hart and her husband Jerry of Huntington, IN; one brother, John Elsmore of Florida. Virginia “Nanny” is also survived by nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several cousins; nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service was conducted Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 1  p.m. at the Limestone United Methodist Church, 52 Main Street, Limestone, with the Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating. Private interment will take place in Pembroke at a later date. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments was held in the church reception area, after the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Barnes to the Jefferson Cary Foundation, P.O. Box 89, Caribou, 04736 or to the Limestone United Methodist Church, 45 Burleigh Avenue, Limestone, 04750. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
