Aroostook Retired Educators Association (AREA) President Robert White, of Caribou, has announced the group’s 2009 summer meeting plans.
The first noontime dinner meeting will be June 23, at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum, in Littleton. The Gallagher Brothers musical group will provide entertainment.
The July 28 buffet luncheon meeting will be at the University of Maine in Fort Kent. Young Melanie Dorice Saucier, who was a hit at the last two Maine Retired Educators state conventions in Augusta, will be performing some of her special songs.
The Limestone Job Corps Center is the place for the Aug. 25 meeting where the Job Corps culinary students will prepare the buffet. State Rep. John Martin and Sen. Troy Jackson will present a legislative update. There will also be a volunteer recognition presentation.
The final meeting is scheduled for Sept. 29, at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. After a deli buffet, Chris Mayer, MA, LAc, will present “Acupuncture — What is it?” Remembrance/Memorial Fund Chair Richard Rand, of Presque Isle, will conduct the annual Remembrance Program. Election and installation of officers will also take place at this last meeting.
Attendees at all the sessions are encouraged to bring non-perishable food or household staple items for area food pantries. If any retired educator would like further information, contact White at 498-2796.
