The University of Maine at Fort Kent’s summer theatre is searching for local talent to perform in a play, entitled “Tartuffe” by Moliere. The audition date is Wednesday, June 17 from 6 – 9 p.m. in Fox Auditorium at UMFK, or by appointment.
“Come work with us as we put a St. John Valley spin on this hilarious theatrical classic,” invited summer theater producer Aaron Bernstein.
The play is about a scoundrel named Tartuffe, who pretends to be a model of virtue to gain the trust of a wealthy family, but is really a smooth- talking swindler. Will his true nature be discovered before he robs the family blind?
Auditions are open to anyone in the community who is interested; no experience necessary. Male and female performers of all ages, technicians, and production staff are needed.
“We are continuing to bring back the opportunity for community members to get involved in performing arts at UMFK,” Bernstein said.
The summer theatre production staff are Corey Gagne, director; Aaron Bernstein, producer and John Blanchette, technical director.
Blanchette is a native of New Sweden. He is a UMFK graduate with many years of experience doing lighting and sound work in various productions.
Anyone interested in being a part of the play, please contact Bernstein at (207) 834-7893 or by e-mail at aaronb@maine.edu.
