    PATTEN – Ida Willigar Young, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 21, 2009, with her children by her side. She was born in Moncton, NB, Canada, the daughter of Howard and Mable (Seith) Dryden on Feb 7, 1919.
    In 1998, at the age of 79, she graduated from Katahdin High School. Ida loved to serve the Lord and one of her favorite ways to do that was to work at Vacation Bible School in the kitchen serving the children cookies and Kool-Aid, but when that became to much for her she served as a "Holy Roller," rolling pennies. Ida expressed her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, by baking their favorite foods, from fudge and whoopie pies to biscuits and berry pies.
    She is survived by a brother, Douglas Morton and his wife Marion of St. John, NB, Canada; five children, George Willigar and his wife Judy of Island Falls, Margaret Merry of Lincoln, Mary Willigar of Island Falls, Jackie Davenport and her husband Roland of Sherman, and Bonnie King and her husband Stanley of Sherman; 13 grandchildren, George Willigar and his wife Leah, Marcia Grant and her husband Doug, Jay Willigar and his wife Vhal, Chris Willigar and his wife Helen, Shelia Paradis and her husband Kenney, Mark Merry and his companion Karen, Steven Merry and his wife Dawn, Kirk Merry and his wife Carolyn, Lynn Thompson and her husband Doug, Tara Scholz and her husband Tom, Tanya Lerley and her husband Mike, Jason Landry and his wife Deanne, and Jeremy Landry and his wife Samantha; 35 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a very special friend, Marilyn Somers, who was like a daughter to her, and a special young man, Terry Dixon. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers Ronald and William Morton; and her sister, Mary Dryden.
    Friends called at the Patten Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, May 26 from 6-8 where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with her friends, Revs. Regginal Adams and Peter Main officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Heights Health Facility, c/o Shasta Willette, 83 Houlton Road, Patten ME.
