Helping children live their dreams

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. They have fulfilled the dreams and wishes of hundreds of children, including many in Aroostook County. There have been several children from the Houlton area who have been granted wishes over the years.
The Maine chapter of the foundation was started 17 years ago, and to date, have given more than 800 children throughout Maine a chance to live their dream. As the ties with Make-A-Wish Foundation are growing stronger in our local community, the organization is planning to hold the sixth Walk-For-Wishes in Houlton. The Walk-For-Wishes has been held at other locations across the state for years, but only recently in Aroostook County.
The Walk-For-Wishes in Houlton will be held on May 28. Registration and check-in begins at 5 p.m. at the Houlton Civic Center. The Walk will kick-off at 6 p.m. and pizza and other refreshments will be provided. Consider becoming a team captain by recruiting family, friends, and co-workers to work toward a team goal. Everyone is welcome to join, and any pledge will be welcomed.
The cost to fulfill each child’s wish is approximately $6,000. As the Make-A-Wish Foundation is a commendable charity that has worked with local children in the past and will continue to in the future, I would like to see the Houlton community hold another successful Walk-For-Wishes. I am asking for your support as a sponsor of this worthy event.

Hope to see a lot of new faces this year.
