Image The Houlton Lodge of Elks hosted Houlton High School National Honor Society students for a supper on May 4 at the lodge. Before the supper, Mike Powers presented three Elk Scholarships to Houlton High School students Cori Crovo, Anna Caron and Emily McGary. Crovo, daughter of Sue and Peter Crovo, received one of the Most Valuable Student scholarship for $900, while Caron, daughter of Linda Belisle, was the first-place recipient of the Most Valuable Student scholarship for $4,000 and McGary, daughter of Peggy and Donnie McGary, was the recipient of the Legacy Award, allowing her $1,000 per year for four  years of post-secondary education.  The Houlton Lodge of Elks is small Elks compared to others in the country, but the Houlton Elks historically has more Legacy winners than any single lodge in the country. All winners were chosen at the Grand Lodge headquarters in Chicago and compared to thousands of entries from around the country. At the presentation were, from left, Brad Butler, exalted ruler of the Houlton Lodge of Elks; Caron, McGary and Powers, President of the Maine Elks Association. Absent from the photograph due to illness was Crovo.
