Greater Houlton Christian Academy and its Head of School Mark B. Jago are pleased to announce that Britta Sjoberg of Hodgdon, a senior at GHCA High School, has been selected to receive the 2009 MPA Principal's Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.
“Britta is very deserving of this recognition because she exemplifies in her own personal and school life the spirit and mission of GHCA,” said Jago. “Britta's moral character has also served as an example for what we desire our students to aim for in their personal relationships. She is the same fine young lady at home as she is at school. This is also a tribute to her dad and mom, Fred and Marilyn Sjoberg."
The MPA Principal's Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators. The students will be recognized and honored at the MPA Luncheon April 4 in Bangor. There will be opportunities for the students in attendance to be recipients for five $1,000 scholarship drawings.
Sjoberg will be attending Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.
