Sign-ups for the Houlton Area Little League for all age divisions will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday April 6-8 at the Houlton Recreation Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Little League baseball players (ages 7-12) must live in Houlton, Hammond, Ludlow and New Limerick.
Little League softball players (ages 9-12), and Junior/Senior League baseball players (ages 13-16) must live anywhere within the Houlton or Hodgdon school districts.
The cost is $45 per player. For families with more than one player, the costs are: two players, $40 each; three or more players, $35 each.
League organizers have announced that the League will expand by adding a Minor League Division for 7-11 year-olds to go along with the Majors Division 9-12 year-olds.
The “Minors” division will include boys and girls as young as 7 years old (must turn 7 before May 1). There is no cost for players age 7 and 8 until after the free clinic/tryout.
If a 7-or-8 year old player is selected, he/she will then pay the league fee, and will then be placed in the “Minors” division (players of all ages should still sign up prior to the tryouts/clinics). No players age 9 and older will be cut. Boys ages 9-11 may be placed in the “Minors” or “Majors” divisions. Boys age 12 will be placed in the “Majors” division only. Girls age 9-12 will be in the softball “Majors” division.
Minors/Majors baseball division cut-off date is May 1 (must be at least 7 before that date). Players turning 13 before May 1, will only be eligible for Junior League play, later in the spring.
Majors girls’ softball division cut-off date is January 1 (must be at least 9 before that date). Players turning 13 before January 1, will not be eligible for Little League Softball play that season.
Tryouts/free clinic dates at Houlton High School are as follows: 10-12 year olds, April 15, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; 7-9 year olds, April 16 5:30-7:30 p.m. and 9-12 year old softball, April 27, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
