EASTON – On Friday, Feb. 13, the Easton Elementary students, along with many staff, participated in the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart. The students and staff at Easton Elementary school did an outstanding job of raising more than $5,100 for the AHA and helped celebrate the 30th anniversary of the fund-raising event by jumping throughout the morning, eating heart healthy snacks and honoring the top fundraisers for each class.
The top school fundraisers were once again sisters Emily and Abigail Thompson who, with the help of their mother, raised over $1,600.
After an experience related to heart awareness a few years ago, the Thompson family has played an important part of helping to motivate students and staff to raise money for this great cause which may have an effect on any of us at one point or another. Their efforts to raise funds for the AHA put the meaning into what this program has to offer for our students and community.
The community service aspect of this event was truly a priceless lesson and the physical fitness benefit of jumping rope is always a great way to celebrate such a great cause.
All donations raised during Jump Rope for Heart help fund research to fight heart disease and stroke and also support the AHA’s public and professional education programs.
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer in America and stroke is No. 3.
Thanks to all who donated on behalf of the Easton Elementary school.
