Washburn students win competition

    Washburn District Elementary School will send six representatives to the County Elk Hoop Shoot to be held on January 10th, at University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Weiden gymnasium.

ImageWinners of the local Hoop Shoot, in Washburn, proudly show off their trophies. These six will head to Presque Isle Jan. 10th to compete in the County-wide Hoop Shoot, sponsored by the P.I. Elk Lodge.

    A total of 84 students, 42 girls and 42 boys, participated in the local Hoop Shoot, conducted by physical education instructor Laura Gardiner.
    Earning a trip to Presque Isle for the county shoot-off is (front row) Quintin Thompson and Hannah Dow in the 8-9 year old division, (back-lf.) Devin Thompson and Carmen Bragg were 12-13 year old champions, and Jarrett Olson and Emmy Churchill won the 10-11 year old division.  
    The Presque Isle Elk Lodge provided trophies to the six local winners.
