LIMESTONE — Students at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics now have the opportunity to participate in the newly created Outing Club, which was created by a Teens To Trails grant that was written by members of MSSM’s Key Club.

“With a network of support in place for teachers and Outing Club Advisors, we will encourage an Outing Club in every one of Maine’s high schools,” said Carol Leone, founder of Teens To Trails.
The grant will provide the Outing Club with gear —backpacks, snowshoes, canoe paddles — as well as funds to help with transportation costs and outdoor program fees.
“High school Outing Clubs are the most effective way we have found for engaging teens in their natural world,” said Leone, “making safe outdoor experiences accessible to every student in the state.”
The Outing Club at MSSM currently has 10 members. More information on Teens To Trails can be found at www.TeensToTrails.org.
