• The Misses May, Clara and Maud Collins very pleasantly entertained a number of young people at their home on Main St. Monday evening.
A 74 year-old New Years blessing. • Joseph Prescott, who recently sold his farm in South Caribou to L.A. Bagley, has purchased the farm belonging to Gray Brothers; the consideration being $21,000.
• Raymond Ebbett and sister Miss Gretchen Ebbett spent Christmas at the home of their aunt and uncle, Dr. and Mrs. F.M. Whitehouse in Fort Fairfield.
• Miss Carlotta Pendell returned recently from Maysville, where she had been spending a few days with her cousin, Miss Alicia Hayford.
• Potatoes are at $1.60 per barrel at this time.
• Students selected to speak at Caribou High School’s Junior Exhibition, later this winter are: Jean Doyle, Emmeline Clark, Natalie Chandler, Marie Thompson and Agnes Bouchard; also Wilson Piper, James Briggs, Richard Hallowell, Elbridge Michaud and Thomas Vose.
• W.W. Raymond has moved into the Pratt residence on North Main Street.
• The Caribou hockey team will play the New Sweden Red Wings at Bob’s Rink, hear the Bangor and Aroostook station in New Sweden, at 2 p.m. Dec. 31.
• Bob Johnson, accordion artist will start a series of broadcasts from Station WAGM.
• Mrs. Minnie Milton was a recent overnight guest at the home of her Wesley.
• Roland Babin, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Babin of Caribou was recently promoted to Spec4 in Germany where he is a member of the 46th Infantry. Babin is a 1954 graduate of Caribou High School.
• Mrs. Burnell Gallagher entertained at a party in honor of her son, Jeffery, on his sixth birthday. Guests were Paul Gallagher, Norry and Bobby Currier, Bobby Needham, Gary Harmon, Stevie Joyner and Jeffery’s brother, Jon.
• Pvt. Emery Knowlton, 23, has been assigned to M Company of the 1st Training Regiment at Fort Dix, N.J., for eight weeks of infantry basic training in conjunction with the 1955 Reserve Forces Act. Knowlton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Knowlton of Caribou.
• Miss Greta Anderson of New Sweden is employed at the L.S. Hall Company, during the Christmas season.
• Miss Sandra Johnson who is doing graduate work at Harvard University is expected home to spend the holidays with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Johnson.
• Group W. Cable Company’s ability to broadcast “live” from a number of points in Caribou, may mean they will be televising certain public happenings in the near future.
• Patrick Phelan of Ft. Bliss, Texas, spent the Christmas holidays with his mother, Mary Phelan of Caribou.
• Mr. and Mrs. Dale Sandstrom of Alaska are spending some time with her mother Hilma Hede.
• PFC. Royal L. Shaw has completed one station unit training (OSUT) at the U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Ga.
• An Old Town bus firm has announced plans to take over the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad Company’s Aroostook County Bus Line. John T. Cyr and Sons will begin operations in the county as of Jan.22.
