Caribou’s 150th Celebration Committee members have announced that all events, scheduled to date, have been posted on the website at www.celebratecaribou.com. There are two types of events, those organized by the Caribou’s 150th Celebration Committee and those sponsored by individuals, businesses, service clubs and churches.     Some of the earliest events are set to begin in February featuring a Ladies Night Out, Caribou‘s Birthday Party, Keystone Kops, an Irish Night and the Caribou’s Downtown Ski Dash for the Cash.
Events will run all year long ending with the Jefferson Cary Foundation’s New Year’s Eve party.
The 150th Celebration committee is assisting in organizing events including the Irish Night and the Downtown Ski Dash for Cash and in the Celebration Ball, the Time Capsule, the History Pageant which will take place in August as well as the parade and fireworks  scheduled for September 5.
At the same time there are more than 22 businesses, service clubs and other organizations sponsoring events during the year.
To ensure everyone has the opportunity to get their event onto the official list, the150th committee has extended the deadline for submissions. Anyone wishing to sponsor an event can pick up an application form at the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry office or download a form at www.celebratecaribou.com.
All events will be listed in the events booklet, on the web-site, in the historical book, monthly calendar posters and in any other celebration advertising.   If a business, club, church or organizations desires to be part of this once in a lifetime celebration, a completed form along with a $40 check to cover the necessary participation fee should be completed by January 16.
Caribou’s 150th Celebration Committee members ask residents to keep in mind that this is a grassroots effort by the citizens of Caribou. This 150th birthday celebration is only going to happen once, and everyone is encouraged to get involved.
