The varsity hockey team had 3 games this week. They started the week on Monday at the Alfond by upending the Orono Red Riot 7-4. They ended the weekend with a pair of home 6-4 losses to the Gardiner Tigers on Friday night and the Winslow Black Raiders on Saturday afternoon.
In the Orono game, P.I. had a 3-1 lead after 1 period, a 4-4 tie after the second before pulling out the 7-4 victory. P.I. outshot Ororno 37-19.
Brennen Shaw lead the way with 4 goals and an assist. Isaac Lajoie had a goal as did Dylan Collins and Mitch Davis. M. Davis added 3 assists while Mark Carvell and Josh Buck had 2 assists, Steve Ford, Zac Campbell, Jason Martin and Jacob Buck added one.
On Friday night, P.I. and Gardiner had a 2-2 tie after the first frame, Gardiner jumped to a 4-2 advantage after 2.
P.I. fought back to get it to 5-4 before Gardiner added an empty net goal for the 6-4 victory. Collins lead the way with 2 goals and an assist while Buck and B.Shaw added the other goals. Lajoie had 2 assists and Connor Shaw and Campbell picked up the assists. P.I. was outshot 39-20.
On Saturday, P.I. was down 1-0 after 1 period and tied 3-3 after the second. However in the 3rd period P.I. got out scored and dropped the game 6-4.
C. Shaw and B. Shaw each scored as did Collins and Davis. B. Shaw had 2 assists while Davis, Buck, and Mitch Sperrey picked up assists. Shot were 28-26 in favor of Winslow. Nic Davis played all 3 games in net for P.I.
Presque Isle’s next home game is Dec. 30th at 1p.m. against York.
PI will also be playing an exhibition game against St. Malachys High School from Saint John, New Brunswick on Jan. 10 at 1p.m. at the Forum.
