Through a collaborative initiative of the New Sweden RPC Committee, the Transition Committee, New Sweden School Board members, the New Sweden Town Office, the New Sweden eighth-grade class and staff members at the New Sweden School, residents will have an opportunity to share ideas and learn more about the  up-coming RSU referendum.     The New Sweden  School cafeteria will be the setting for the Tuesday, Dec. 9 event from 5:30 — 7:30 p.m. Citizens be able to collectively consider the impact on taxes, local autonomy and the future of the New Sweden School and their community.
There will be a spaghetti dinner available with proceeds to benefit the New Sweden School’s Activity Fund. Members of the grade-eight class will be available to supervise younger children during the evening in the school gymnasium (donations will be accepted).
The meal, which will be $5 per plate, is to include: spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad, garlic bread and brownie a-la-mode.
The evening is structured as follows: Individuals will enter the “Café”, purchase their meals and be seated at a table; a host or hostess be seated at each of the tables to welcome participants and share information about the RSU process and plan and initiate activities. Children may go to the gymnasium when they have finished eating allowing adults to further discuss for the next 30 minutes, the question: ‘what does the community have to gain by approving the RSU referendum?’
Following the initial discussion there will be a short break followed by those in attendance changing tables discussing the question: ‘what does the community have to lose by approving the RSU referendum ?’
The final block of time will allow the entire group to share, ‘the one thing I heard tonight that impacted by thinking was —.’
