“Now is the time for all of us to work together to use technology to save time and energy, so we can focus on what is important: the educations and well-being of the students and families we serve.” (Salvador Liberto- Director of Admissions at Newbury College).
Hodgdon High School has an amazing advisory program, which provides every student that attends HHS an academic advisor and mentor that sees the student every day from grade nine to graduation. HHS has now provided advisors and students with an incredible new resource called ConnectEDU.
What is ConnectEDU? It is the nation’s leading technology firm dedicated to providing students, educators and parents with comprehensive solutions to successfully navigate education and employment transitions. ConnectEDU’s mission is to provide access to higher education and career opportunities for all students by empowering them and their advisors with the information and resources required to realize successful life-transitions.
We have realized that the parent role in college planning has become increasingly more important. ConnectEDU invites parents into the process with online tools to collaborate with students and counselors on their students’ transitions.
All students have been given member sign-in information from advisors. If they do not remember it, just log on to www.msad70.net and email the advisor for the username and password unique to each student. Then sit down with your child and check out ConnectEDU together. At this time, every student in advisory is completing a profile so colleges, employers, and scholarship providers can compete for our students. Students are more than just their grades. Colleges are looking for students with interests outside of the classroom as well, and this profile helps students create an incredible resume with a simple step by step process. You are going to say, “Wow, I wish I had this when I was in school!”
Your assignment this week as a parent is to go to www.connectedu.net and explore this awesome resource being provided to your student at Hodgdon High School. Let’s work together to help our students set their goals and map their futures for college admissions, financial aid, and career planning. Let’s help our youth connect their education, connect their career, connect their future.

Despite poor economic conditions, our students and their families continue to give to those around them who are in need. Our fourth grade students made a trip to the Houlton Humane Society last week to make a much needed delivery. They raised $240 to provide food and supplies for the animals who are at the shelter. They also wanted me to remind you that there are many lovable, furry pets there that would make a perfect Christmas gift for someone.
Our PTO will once again provide Santa’s Workshop for our students. It will be held this Friday, December 5 during the school day. This is a time for students to purchase inexpensive gifts for friends and family. All gifts will cost in the range of 50 cents to $10.
Our band and chorus are ready to celebrate the season and will provide entertainment for us. Our beginning band will perform on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. and the middle school chorus/band will have their concerts on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Both of these concerts will be held in the Mill Pond School gymnasium. Come and join us for these festive events.
Signs of winter are officially here and our students need to dress accordingly. We would ask that students come with boots, ski pants, coats, hats and mittens so they can enjoy the fresh air during recess. Staying inside is not an option for students in kindergarten through grade five, so they need to be prepared to go outside at recess time.
We would like to thank those of you who continue to give us your school dollars and box tops. We have over 4,000 box tops given to the school and have raised $1,000 in school dollars. We greatly appreciate your dedication to assisting us with both of these projects.
Once again we will be involved with providing needy families with gifts of toys, food and clothing. If you have any donations you would like to make towards this worthwhile project, please leave any items you would like to donate in the office of the school.
