Wrong issue

To the editor:
I think the law is pushing the wrong thing being so concerned about drivers wearing seat belts. The driver that is not wearing a seat belt is not endangering anyone else on the road and it should be that person’s choice.
The real issue is cell phones. There should be a law that makes it illegal to operate a vehicle while talking on a cell phone. These drivers are endangering everyone on the road, being a real hazard to all of us. They are not alert drivers while talking on a phone. Alert drivers help prevent accidents, not cause them.
In my opinion they are our second worst danger on the road; the drunken driver being number one. Hopefully our lawmakers will wake up and do something about it. This could probably save a lot of injuries and lives. I thought saving lives is what we’re trying to do.
