Quispamsis, NB – Rev. John D. “Jack” Fancy, 81, Surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 9, 2008. The Reverend “Jack” Fancy, husband of Pauline (Larkin) Fancy, of Quispamsis, NB went to be with his Lord. Born in Truro, NS on September 14, 1927, he was a son of the late Guy and Dora Blanche (Durdan) Fancy.
For 26 years Jack was employed with the Dominion Stores as meat manager and assisting personnel in opening of new stores. Elected to the Municipality of Colchester Council where he served for three years and while on council he was appointed and served on five different boards. For 12 years he served as Gideon Representative. Entering ministry with the Wesleyan Church in 1972 he served as pastor in the following congregations, Monticello, Me. for 4 years, Presque Isle, Me. for 3 years, Kings Valley, Quispamsis for 8 years, Beals Island for 2 years, Blacks Harbour for 7 years, Truro for 1 year, First Wesleyan, Saint John as assistant. He served as Secretary for Extension and Evangelism for the Wesleyan Church, Atlantic division. Rev. Fancy retired in 2004 from active ministry.
Besides his wife of 59 years, Pauline; he is survived by a son, Rev. R.L. Bud (Irene) Fancy of Pulaski, NY; one daughter, Brenda (Rev. Wayne) Robertson of Houlton, Me.; daughter-in-law, Twylla Fancy of Truro, NS; sister-in-law, Connie Fancy of Truro, NS; seven grand-children, Trevor, Jeff (Nicolle), Rev. Seth (Leanne), Zach and Taylor Fancy, Alicia and Lauren Robertson; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Fancy; several nephews and nieces; and many wonderful friends. Predeceased by his son, John Bruce Fancy; five brothers, Lee, Reg, Donald, Ronald and Harry; and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Backman) Fancy.
Resting at Kings Valley Wesleyan Church, Hampton Rd., Quispamsis with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service from Kings Valley Wesleyan Church at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Eanon Cemetery, Truro, NS on Friday, November 14, 2008, at 12 noon. Remembrances may be made to the Rev. Jack Fancy Memorial Scholarship Fund of Bethany Bible College, Kings Valley Wesleyan Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
