SOAR for the Troops

Support Our American Troops (SOAR) is busy getting Christmas packages ready for service men and women. At SCRAPS in Market Square, a photo of co-owner Beverley Rowe’s son, doing his second tour in Iraq, is proudly displayed next to a box for dropping off personal care items and individual food servings to be sent overseas to troops connected to Maine. Drop-off boxes will be on display in several locations throughout October so that gifts can be mailed by mid-November in time for Christmas. Additional drop-off locations are: Houlton Higher Education Center, Military Street Baptist Church, Cornerstone Baptist Church, and SOAR headquarters (34 Corner Rd., Hodgdon).  To submit the name of someone serving in the military or for more information, call: Marilyn Sjoberg at 532-4378.
