Sherman: One of Maine’s hardest working Senators

To the editor:
As an Aroostook County native, I share with our fellow rural Mainers an appreciation for hard work and a commitment to results. I have carried these values with me from my hometown of Easton to the halls of the State Senate, where I have the privilege of representing Waldo County. My friend and colleague, Sen. Roger Sherman, shares these same values, and has represented the citizens of southern and central Aroostook County with common sense and a dedication to his constituents that few have matched.
Sen. Sherman is one of our hardest working Senators. His tireless efforts on behalf of his constituents have made the County stronger. He has been consistent in his support of local control of education, joining me and just five other Senators in voting against the Governor’s takeover of our schools. He works hard to protect and promote Maine’s farmers and small business owners, and was a leading opponent of the $70 million tax increase on health care and beverages that passed during the middle of the night at the end of the legislative session. On the issues important to Mainers, Roger Sherman is a leader we can count on.
I have seen first-hand how dedicated Sen. Sherman is to creating a stronger Aroostook County. He is a strong voice in Augusta who has always demonstrated a commitment to good government. I know he will continue his record of solid leadership during a second term in the State Senate.
