Alecia Palmer of the Presque Isle Lady Wildcats garnered a fourth-place finish at Saturday’s Penobscot Valley Conference cross country championship meet, held in Bangor.
Palmer had a time of 21 minutes, 1.7 seconds, finishing 30 seconds behind meet winner Brianne Dunn of Ellsworth. Heather Spurling of Mount Desert Island and Dayna Michaud of Caribou were second and third, respectively.
Presque Isle finished fifth in the team standings with 108 points, with MDI (61), John Bapst (63), Caribou (63) and Ellsworth (90) taking the top four spots. Old Town (137) and Bucksport (177) were behind PI.
Also for the Lady Wildcats, Hallie Bartlett was 17th in 21:12, Elizabeth Wright 27th in 22:02.9, Krista Buck 30th in 22:13.5, Jaylee Fox 35th in 22:27 and Jerica Fox 36th in 22:28.6. Julia Brown was 42nd at 23:38.2.
The PI boys were paced by Jason Johnson, 12th overall in 18:11.3. Logan Thibeau was 21st in 18:454.6, Brandon Hafford 33rd in 19:56.7, Jesse Rochester 34th in 20:06.2 and Ethan York 41st in 23:15.4.
Caribou won the team title with 28 points, followed by Ellsworth (60) and MDI (68). John Bapst (122), Hermon (129), Presque Isle (141) and Old Town (162) followed.
The boys’ winner was Ben Chapman of Ellsworth in 16:38.6.
The Eastern Maine Championships are next, and will take place Saturday at Belfast.
