STAR STUDENTS – Named as “Star Students” in grades Pre K-3 are, from left, front, Nathaniel Farr, Madisyn Oliver, Cassidy Bilodeau, Ethan Gray, Benjamin Gilman, Jordyn Cowger, Owen Mille and Matthew Lambert; middle, Ashley Waldron, Bobbie Massey, Devon Stevens, Courtney Oliver, Mallory Gilman, Ryleigh Gilman, Adria Doane, Jacob Gray and Grace Walsh; back, Matthew Shay, Trevor Noyes, Matthew Apgar, Nikki Simon and Lendin Stoddard.
Each week staff looks for students exhibiting one or more of these qualities and nominates students to be chosen. Their names are turned into the office with a description of the act that was performed, from names turned in 10 students are chosen to be Star Student for the week. “We feel that it is a way to demonstrate to the students that being positive will help them succeed and also encourage the other students around them to do the same,” said Apgar.
“Star Students” are announced each Tuesday morning during a school assembly. Students’ photographs are displayed on the “Star Student” bulletin board and students are invited to have lunch with the principal on that day.
