    Pleasant Valley, NY – Catherine M. Peterson, 76, died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1932, in the Bronx and was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Gallagher Monsky.
    She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in New York City and attended Fordham University. She moved to Patten, Maine, in 1990 and enjoyed the outdoors and hiking and picnicking with her family. She had been a member of the Patten Women’s Club.  Catherine had also been a Hospice volunteer for several years. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Virtis Company, Inc. in Gardiner, NY, until her retirement.
    On September 13, 1952, at St. Joseph’s Church in the Bronx, Catherine married George T. Peterson who predeceased her on December 22, 2007.
    She is survived by her beloved daughter, Diane Valentine and her husband, Charles, of Pleasant Valley; two sons, Robert Peterson of Reidsville, NC, and Daniel Peterson and his wife, Chayapat, of Fairbanks, AK; a brother, Adolph Ackerman of Long Island; two sisters, Lillian Lauro of Long Island and Pauline DeSalvatore of Queens; four grandchildren, Karen, Rachel, Gillian and Kelly; and two great-grandsons, Jacob and Dylan.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Hospice, Inc., 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY  12601.
