Project Graduation will be meeting in the Hodgdon High School Commons on Thursday, Oct. 23rd at 6:30 p.m.. All parents/guardians of seniors are invited to attend. Picture Day at the high school is Friday, Oct. 17th by Lifetouch.
Mid-Term Progress Reports were sent out Oct. 1st at the high school. This is a great opportunity for parents/guardians to have a conversation with his/her teen to assess how they are doing in each class. Are there any concerns? Do you see areas that could be improved as the school year continues? Would it be helpful to email the teacher in a few weeks to see if the grade has improved? Is your teen working hard and it shows? Celebrate! We all love an accolade or two for work well done.
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) will be administered to all 10th- and 11th-grade students at Hodgdon High School on Wednesday, Oct. 15th. Students take the test to get feedback about critical academic skills, prepare for the SAT, start getting ready for college, and to enter scholarship competitions.
The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical reading, math problem-solving and writing skills developed over many years, both in and out of school. Students who take the test are given access to My College QuickStart, a free personalized college and career planning kit. Students may go to www.collegeboard.com/psat for sample questions and practice test answer explanations. Students should bring pencils, erasers, and a calculator on test day and eat a nutritious breakfast. It may help to dress in layers in case the room gets too warm or cold.
Students have been practicing for the PSAT/NMSQT in advisory classes each week and are expected to do a great job this October.
If you have any questions concerning the PSAT/NMSQT go to www.msad70.net . MSAD 70 will be on Harvest Break from Monday, Oct. 6th through Monday, Oct. 13th. School will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 14th.
