Ennis, Montana – Michael Peterson, 53 years old, husband of Cindy Ringdahl Peterson, formerly of New Sweden, Maine, died of a heart attack on September 4, 2008. He was born August 5, 1955, in Great Fall, Montana.
Mike graduated from Fairfield High School in 1973. He lettered in basketball and football for three years. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed and excelled in many sports including pool, bowling, trap shooting, racquetball, baseball, fishing, golf and even pick-up sticks. He was very competitive and passionate about his sports and didn’t lose very often. He could drop an elk from 600 yards.
He married Cindy Ringdahl on June 15, 1985, in Choteau, Montana. Together they had Jason Michael, 21 years old, and Emily Jane, 19 years old. Mike worked for Three Rivers Telephone Company in Fairfield and was transferred to Ennis, Montana in 1994. He lived there until his death. Mike made friends everywhere he went and was known for his dry sense of humor.
Mike loved his family and was very involved in every aspect of his children’s lives. He was a very loving husband, father, brother and son and will be missed very much.
His is survived by his wife and children, parents Stan and Louella Peterson of Fairfield, MT; sister Debbie (Ron) Laubach of Power, MT; brother Gary (Stacey) Peterson of Fairfield, MT; sister Jeanne (John) Cherne of Mukilteo, WA; father-in-law Penner (Gloria) Ringdahl of New Sweden, ME and Gloria’s children and their families; step-father-in-law Bob (Rhoda) Brown of Washburn, ME; sister-in-law Marcia (Tim) Stohlberg of Cromwell, CT; brother-in-law Ric (Tammy) Ringdahl of Farmingdale, ME; sister-in-law Carrie (George) Sawyer of Gray, ME; step-sister-in-law Susan (Kermit) Fuller of Washburn, ME; step-brother-in-law Keith (Sue) Brown of Washburn, ME; nieces and nephews Dennis, Lindsey and Chase Laubach of Power, MT, Ben and Haley Peterson of Fairfield, MT, Allison and Matthew Cherne of Mukilteo, WA, Jacob Robertson of Somerville, MA, Samuel Robertson of Caribou, ME, Hannah Robertson of Cromwell, CT, Danielle Ringdahl of Gardner, ME, Olivia and Payson Sawyer of Gray, ME; step-nieces and step-nephews Greg (Lauren) McLaughlin of Hampton, NH, Kath (Matt) Bulmer of Derry, NH, Nathan (Katie) Brown of Manchester, NH, and Sarah (Sean) Diette of Portland, ME.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Marietta (Ringdahl) Brown of Washburn, ME.
Funeral services were September 10th at the Rocky Mountain Baptist Church in Ennis, Montana. Committal services were September 11th at the Highland Cemetery in Great Falls, Montana.
Memorials are preferred to a college education fund for Mike and Cindy’s children at 406-682-5050.
