Border Belles kick up their heels

KICKING UP THEIR HEELS — The Red Hat Border Belles, from left, Barbara Grant, Marilyn Tidd, Joan Logan and Linda Russell, the “Menopause Mammas” lip-synched a medley of songs from the musical “Menopause.” Their efforts to entertain a group of approximately 120 red hatters proved successful after cheers and applause placed them in first place to capture a cash award of $100. The ladies said they had a great time practicing for their “five minutes of fame.” The Border Belles enjoyed the day-long Hawaii-themed gala hosted by the Oakfield Hat Travelers at the snowmobile clubhouse. Events included a workshop, various contests, parades, and talent shows with cash prize awards, live music and a delicious Hawaiian Buffet feast. Border Belles Irene Jackson and Josephine Holmes also attended and volunteered as helpers throughout the day.
