We are fast approaching election time, and I would like to write a few words in support of Beth Michaud, who is running for the Maine House of Representatives in District 5. I have known Beth since the early 1990s. At that time, I was a vocational rehabilitation counselor working for the State of Maine Bureau of Rehabilitation. A portion of my caseload was made up of persons with severe hearing difficulties seeking employment. Beth was one of very few persons in central Aroostook County certified to provide sign language interpreting services at this time. Even though, she was providing interpreting services throughout central and northern Maine, she always made time available for clients in central Aroostook. She was always knowledgeable, professional and timely and a pleasure to work with. In addition, she taught sign language in several local school districts.
Beth has also been involved with a variety of local community and charitable activities, such as, the Aroostook Mentoring Program and the Chamber of Commerce.
In summary, I think Beth has the insight, practical work experience, and common sense to represent us in Augusta.
