Drost, Annie F., 79, Presque Isle; in Presque Isle, September 22, 2008. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle. PRESQUE ISLE – Annie F. Drost, 79, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008, at a Presque Isle heathcare facility after a long illness. She was born March 27, 1929, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Peter R. and Corina M. (Martin) Guerrette.
Annie worked for many years at Beaulieu’s Grocery as a clerk and meat cutter. She was very involved at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Social Action Program as well as being a communicant, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. In earlier years she enjoyed bowling, and was on bowling teams as well as playing bingo. Many of her happiest memories were at the family camp on Echo Lake with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
She is survived by husband of 63 years, Vaughn Drost of Presque Isle; two sons, Harold R. Drost and his wife Gladys of Presque Isle, Larry R. Drost and his wife Judy of Mapleton; two daughters, Ann Marie Garland and her husband Woodie of Mapleton, Darlene F. Garland of Presque Isle; 10 grandchildren, Kathy Poitras and her husband Brian, Heather Drost and her companion Bill O’Fria of Presque Isle, Jerod Drost and his wife Janet of Warren, Laurie Amero and her husband Scott of Mapleton, Paige Gagnon and her companion John Allen of Eddington, Craig Garland of Portland, Tara Garland of Richmond, VA, Adam Garland of Litchfield; 10 great-grandchildren, Emily and Brandon Poitras, Kassie and Hailey Rouse, Jalyn and Jayden Drost, Justin and Alec Gagnon, Katelyn Amero, and Abby Garland. She is also survived by three brothers, Wilfred Guerrette and his wife Reta of Presque Isle, Philip Guerrette and his wife Kay of Crouseville, Nelson Guerrette and his wife Carmilla of Presque Isle; four sisters, Angie Powers of Presque Isle, Edna Albert and her husband Camille of Fort Kent, Corrine Levesque and her husband Alphonse of Caribou, Arlene Elliot and her husband Linwood “Duke” of Presque Isle as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by four brothers, Reno, Peter, Carl, Paul; and three sisters, Gloria St. Peter, Lorraine Tardy, and Marlene Forbes.
Friends called 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency and the Rev. Jean Paul Labrie celebrants. Interment took place following the service at St. Mary’s North Main St. Catholic Cemetery. The family extended an invitation to join them at the K/C Hall following the committal for refreshments.
