An overtime goal off the foot of Ted Walker and a hat trick by Jenna Selander helped give Caribou a sweep of a doubleheader in Bar Harbor Saturday over Mount Desert Island. The Caribou boys won as Walker broke a scoreless tie with 50 seconds remaining in the first overtime period.
Eric Brown gained the shutout in goal by saving four of 10 shots.
The Vikings improved to 4-1-1 with the hard-fought win.
Selander broke through by scoring three goals in a 6-2 win over MDI.
Lydia Kieffer scored another goal for Caribou on a penalty kick, while Abby Small and Tia McHatten were the other goal scorers for the Lady Vikes, now 4-2 on the season.
Small, Selander and Danielle Violette contributed assists.
The teams were also successful earlier in the week, with the boys defeating Fort Kent, 3-1, and the girls getting past Madawaska, 2-0, on goals by Jessica Zbylut and Amanda Cyr.
