Ludlow pantry serves 280

The Ludlow Food Pantry held a successful yard sale this past week at the Ludlow Municipal Building on the Ludlow Road. They will continue to sell raffle tickets on several items donated by area businesses including: a remote control Dodge Raminator, a wool and leather John Deere jacket, and a tent are some of the prizes. The winners will be drawn at a baked bean supper planned for later in October at the Municipal Building. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Ludlow Food Pantry. Raffle tickets are one dollar each or six for five dollars.
This food pantry is currently serving 280 people from 13 towns. Food is distributed to Ludlow residents on the second Thursday of each month, and to residents of other towns on the second Friday of each month. Approximately 15,000 to 20,000 pounds of food is distributed each month.
The Ludlow Food Pantry is currently receiving food from the USDA, Catholic Charities in Caribou, and B&M Beans in Portland. Marybeth Foley, treasurer of the food pantry said, “ Volunteers pick up the food from the various locations and the only compensation to the driver, is mileage reimbursement. Volunteers load, unload, sort, package and distribute food each month.”
The volunteers are grateful to several area businesses and local citizens that have recently made monetary donations to the Ludlow Food Pantry. If you would like to donate to this organization please call the Ludlow Town Office at 532-7743, or Ted Ivey at 538-6404.
