Hodgdon coach Olin Quint is pleased with the way with his Lady Hawks varsity girls’ soccer team is playing.
“We are playing well,” said Quint. “Our seniors have played quality varsity minutes and our upperclassmen are strong, seeing extended playing time last season. “We are starting to realize how good we can be. Our freshmen have stepped up and have played well beyond my expectations. We need to capitalize on our quickness.”
The Lady Hawks will finish the season playing strong opponents  such as Houlton, Southern Aroostook, Limestone and Katahdin.
“Our goal is to qualify for the playoffs as a home team,” explained Quint. “We just want to play hard and show improvement with every game, be good sports, play as a team and last, but not least, have fun.”
The Lady Hawks rely on two components, while looking to sharpen other areas.
“Emmaly Jurson does an excellent job in the net,” Quint said. “We have speed on our front line, but we don’t have much depth. We only have three healthy players on the bench. We also need to improve our ball movement.”
Playing for the Lady Hawks are: seniors Taylor Hovey, halfback/front line; Katie Duff, sweeper; Dayna Tidd, front line and Sam Lycette, front line; juniors, Jurson, goalie; Chelsea Sloat, halfback and Taylor McGary, stopper; sophomores, Amanda Ryan, fullback; Kariann Estabrook, front line; Cierra Willette, fullback and Haley Quint, front line; freshmen, Kim Levesque, halfback; Britta Oliver and Kelsey Foster, halfbacks and Coreen Jurson, fullback.
