East Grand School recently received a five-year 21st Century After-School Program grant for students in grades kindergarten through grade 12. Through the grant the students will receive individualized and small group tutoring assistance, recreational activities that will include pee wee soccer and basketball, outdoor education, as well as cultural activities.
The program’s main focus is to improve health and wellness, enhance the students enrichment opportunities, to provide information educational resources and activities to families and to improve academic performance in reading in math.
There will be a Barbecue and Informational Meeting on Monday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. prior to the school’s Open House to help kick off the grant. A survey will be completed by parents and students to see what they would like for activities.
The program is under the direction of Coordinator, Gail Malone and will run Monday through Thursday from 2:30-4:30 p.m. starting on Monday, Oct. 6. For more information, contact the school at 448-2260.
