Meet the candidate: Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Michaud

To the editor:
I am Elizabeth Michaud. I am a fifth generation Aroostook County native, and as many of you already know, I am running for the Maine House of Representatives District 5, on the Republican ticket. I was given the opportunity to represent you in Augusta and hope to do so by understanding your views, incites, and concerns and bring them to Augusta.     To qualify to be on the ballot, I have circulated a nomination petition for signatures and submitted it to the state of Maine. I also collected seed money and collected $5 checks from registered voters in my district to qualify for the Maine Clean Election Act. To gear up for and get the word out about my campaign, I enjoyed the Maine Sportsman Show, participated in the Mapleton Daze parade and festivities, had a very warm welcome at the Potato Blossom parade and events, and I also spent the week at the Northern Maine Fair.
I feel I am your best choice because I have 26 years of experience in budgeting, negotiating rules and boundaries, scheduling, and time limits. I am a goal-oriented, detailed, organized, planner. My 26-year-old son is a Marine who has served two tours to Iraq. My 24-year-old daughter is a local college graduate, wife, and mother of my two beautiful granddaughters. I have worked at my family’s Christmas Tree Farm since its conception. For eight years I owned and operated a small business. I’ve worked in our locally owned bank and I have taught in our school systems and volunteered in our communities’ organizations.
I feel I have the working resources I need, the deep rooted morals from this area and have the common sense it takes to serve you in our legislature. Be listening for my knock on your door as I continue my campaign. Your vote counts on November 4th.
    Thank you for your support.
