Houlton Star Bright Children’s Theatre begins 40th season
Houlton Star Bright Children’s Theatre, formerly known as Houlton Children’s Theatre, has big plans for celebrating their 40th year.
For the first time, HSBCT is offering free membership in the new Star Bright Drama Club to greater Houlton students in grades 2-12. Special activities will be scheduled during the year that are designed to give as many children as possible a chance to have a theatre experience and to improve their acting skills. Benefits to joining the Drama Club include reduced admission to Star Bright theatre events, the Houlton High musical and other events yet to be scheduled. Students must sign up during the registration period to be considered a member.
Membership does not guarantee participation in the annual children’s theatre production, as selection for the play will still be held by audition.
Those interested in becoming a member may do so by registering at the First Baptist Church on Court Street on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 3– 4:15 p.m. Children should arrive by 3 p.m. and parents should plan to pick up at 4:15 p.m.
In addition to the registration, there will be fun theatre activities, birthday cake and ice cream to celebrate HSBCT’s birthday. Children are asked to bring a silly hat for one of the activities.
