The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging has announce that they will be offering a walking clinic Wednesday, Oct. 1 from 6:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center.
The program, under the direction of Cara Miller, a certified instructor for AAAA, is a program designed for anyone who is interested in walking for fun and fitness. The program will offer instruction in proper stretching, understanding your heart rate, developing goals for your walking, appropriate stride and speed to achieve your goals, and developing a walking log. Other services will also be available including blood pressure checks and of course healthy snacks.
Superintendent of Caribou Parks and Recreation Kathy Mazzuchelli said she is delighted to be partnering with AAAA to offer quality programs to area residents in an effort to help them maintain healthy lifestyles. Mazzuchelli also noted that similar collaborations with other agencies minimize costs and make offering programs more efficient.
There is no pre-registration necessary for the free of charge walking clinic.
