Tennis tourney draws 25 teams

    VAN BUREN – Van Buren Project Graduation 2009 held a mixed doubles tennis tournament with age divisions including 10 to 12, 13 to 15, 16 to 18 and 19 and up on July 20. Players from Presque Isle, Caribou, Fort Kent, Madawaska and Van Buren participated in the event with a total of 25 teams.

    In the 10 to 12 age category, Cameron Hill of Caribou and Parise Rossignol of Van Buren took first place. Jenna Hallet and Liam Hughs, both of Presque Isle, were the runner-ups. In the 16 to 18 age division, Allison Dean and Sam Picard, both of Presque Isle, were the runner-ups. Susan Lavertu and Nathan Beaulieu from Madawaska took first place.
    Tournament sponsors included LaPlante Automotive, Saucier’s Shurfine, The Ski Shop, Kim Lajoie and Tulsa, Van Buren Summer Tennis, Northeast Trophies, Coca-Cola and Hannaford of Madawaska and Caribou.
