CRX
CRX participants experienced how a kayak paddle can substitute for a weight lifting regimen in this week’s recreation program. The group exercised their biceps, lats, deltoids and abs on Madawaska Lake as they battled a fierce head wind to arrive at the Mad Lake Dam.
The steam took them to Axle Siding. On Tuesday the kayakers learned about their natural surroundings with Bill Shean at the floating islands on Portage Lake. The group saw four moose and a variety of birds including the common tern, a bird unique to Maine and especially the County.
On Wednesday, the group paddled the Aroostook River from Washburn to Presque Isle and swam at Rum Rapids. To cap off the week, the participants enjoyed a paddle on the Madawaska stream, a natural trout fishery.
