If you didn’t attend the premier of the movie “Amnesia” at the Caribou Theater last week, you missed an interesting production, written, produced and starring, one John Bosely, a former video production student of Brenda Jepson’s – a dedicated screenwriter, one who is not going to give up.

“Six years of producing this movie, and one guy (me) has been the equal to extreme sports,” said Bosely. “At times, the whole things was held together with duct tape; it is actually nothing less than a miracle that this movie got finished,” added the writer, speaking in reference to the difficulty of producing and filming a movie with little money and not a whole lot of equipment.
Even the music and sounds heard in the movie were created by Bosley and his family. “My wife, Elizabeth, my children, Joshua and Grace would go around our kitchen grabbing different items and making noise with them, every now and then, someone would say, ‘hey, this sounds like’……, and we’d make a note of it and most likely it would be used as a sound effect.” Using spatulas, pots, pans, the mouthpiece from a recorder and a bamboo pole purchased at a department store, Bosely developed the musical intonations used in the show.
The serious, well spoken and determined young man implied a number  of times, how deep his ties to his family and this area are and how Hollywood often sacrifices a family, feeling it gets in the way. Not Bosley, in making the decision to debut his film in Maine, with the opening in Caribou, not having his family with him, wasn’t an option. “I wanted my kids to experience this area and to see first-hand what Daddy does,” he said.
Bosley said he was very happy to be back in the area but was a bit saddened that because some things didn’t look the way he remembered. One thing Bosley found that hadn’t changed was the general population, “I swear people have gotten nicer in this area,” he said. In a reference to the local media, Bosley commented, “the press (all forms) went out and supported one of their own.”
A graduate of Presque Isle High School and UMPI, the young filmmaker  has proved to the communities that a sense of responsibility toward tax dollars and education can pay off. Bosley repeatedly mentioned, Brenda Jepson was a friend, teacher and mentor who always said to him, “Don’t give up.”
“As a County boy, I kept saying to myself, I can do this,” said Bosely, “if Rocky could go nine rounds, so can I. Dreams get you out of bed in the morning.”
The sequel to “Amnesia”, “Them” has already been written said Bosley, “Any questions created by “Amnesia will be answered within the first 15 minutes of the sequel,” he assured.
Bosley has a tentative plan to do a college tour with “Amnesia” this fall, looking forward to returning again to the area where he grew up.    Movie buffs and those wishing more information regarding Bosley are encouraged to go to the Web site: jbmovies.com.
