WATERVILLE – Myrtle E. Carmichael, 90, went home to be with her Lord on December 29, 2007 after a long courageous battle with cardiac disease. Myrtle was born on February 8, 1917, in Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Charles and Winifred Bennett Moss. The family moved to Houlton, Maine, where she attended and graduated from Houlton High School.
She was a member of the Fairfield Church of the Nazerene since 1971. She also was a member of the Kennebec Valley Hobby Club and a past president of the Farm Bureau Extension Club. She was a homemaker who cared for neighbors with life threatening illnesses and the elderly who needed errands done for them during her younger years. She was a very caring person who loved helping others. She also had a great love for cats and always had a cat in the house.
Her husband, Cecil, of 54 years predeceased her. She is survived by her only child, Catherine Weeks and her son-in-law, Jonathan; her cousins from New Brunswick, Althea Fraser, Susan Curtis, Pat, Mac and Ryan Burns; one niece, Lois Carmichael from Houlton; one life long friend, Evelyn Carmichael Dow; Wayne Randall and many special church friends; special caretakers, Lucille Roberge and Gale and Jon Ward, Rev. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong, and the staff at Oak Grove Rehab Center.
A service will be held at the Littleton Cemetery on July 19th, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Armstrong officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hospice Volunteers of Waterville, 309 Main St., P.O. Box 200, Waterville, ME 04901.
